FAQs

What to know if you’re already with AVASK

Can I get a dedicated point of contact from AVASK to handle all our EPR-related concerns through this transition period and beyond?

With AVASK Premium, you’ll have a dedicated consultant you can speak to. If you’ve opted for AVASK Self-Serve, we’re happy to discuss your needs and options during this transition period. Call us or email epr@avaskgroup.com.

When do I get my Variation Letter of Engagement?

You’ll receive an email after 1 October 2024 containing your new Variation Letter of Engagement with AVASK. This will have come from our AdobeSign e-signing platform.

Not got this email yet? Reach out to us at [email protected]

What you need to do as soon as you get your Variation Letter of Engagement:

Once you receive your Variation Letter, please read it carefully, then digitally sign this document. Do this as soon as possible so we can seamlessly transfer you to our platform.

Should we reconnect AVASK to Seller Central if we already have a connection (via signup/API)?

No, there’s no need to reconnect – that will remain the same into 2025.

How do I set up my payment with AVASK?

  • After you’ve digitally signed your Variation Letter, you’ll be automatically redirected to set up your payment on Stripe. Complete this as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • If you navigated away from the setup page on Stripe, or weren’t redirected to it, email [email protected]

Are Amazon stopping the service or are AVASK and Amazon parting ways?

Amazon continuously evaluate their programs and services to ensure they meet the evolving needs of their sellers. EPR services on Amazon is transferring solely to service providers to reflect this.

What do I do if I just got my EPR registration through EPR Services on Amazon?

  • Transfer to us through the 3-step process
  • Make the API connection to your Amazon marketplace

What do I do if I'm waiting for my EPR registration – and already paid Amazon for it?

Any applications in process under Amazon’s EPR services will be transferred to AVASK, and you won’t have to pay any transfer charges

You won’t be charged again because you’ve already paid for this. Once the EPR service on Amazon stops and you’re onboarded to AVASK, we’ll ensure you remain compliant with the relevant EPR government authorities.

EPR reporting, WEEE, Pay on Behalf and LUCID

Will I need a new WEEE number after 31 December?

Not if you’re already with us through the Amazon service – that will carry over into 2025 and you’ll stay compliant.

How WEEE numbers work, especially in Germany, is that they have an authorised representative tied to them, so you can’t transfer from provider to provider unless you’re de-registering that number. So to avoid  de-registering your number, you’d have to maintain your service with us if you’re with us already.

You’re not stuck with your current provider though – you can get another registration but this means any pre-existing numbers have authorised representatives associated with them, much like any other provider.

Is EPR mandatory in Austria?

Amazon’s EPR services did cover Austria, but because the platform technically isn’t in Austria they’re not obligated to track compliance for Austrian numbers – for now.

For other marketplaces, they might be obligated to collect Austrian numbers.

In any case, it’s super important to be compliant with EPR wherever you’re selling. This legislation is really new and has emerged through marketplaces in the last couple of years, so it’s likely to evolve over time. Lots of new countries might join, and we’ll be ready to advise you when anything changes.

How do we calculate the amount/weight of the materials (e.g. plastic) per sold products to report via the Seller Central-AVASK connection?

For Amazon reports, the data comes directly from your Seller Central account – whatever you’re selling in the year, that data is stored in Amazon’s systems. Their calculations are based on the product details you’d have entered right at the beginning when you’re selling them. And you can use their categorisation tools to make sure the data is accurate.

You can contact the support team to change or add any information, so you have peace of mind that you’re compliant in each jurisdiction.

We can access that information through that connection, so you don’t have to provide it manually.

Have any further questions? Check out our full list of EPR videos across a range of languages to learn more about EPR.

Are Amazon keeping the Pay on Behalf service?

Yes, they’re keeping it and have no plans to close it – but it makes sense to have your own registration numbers just in case that changes. You’re more in control of your data and your compliance, without going through the hassle of registration.

For Germany, will the LUCID for packaging change?

No, because this is registered to your business – so there’s no change to that for this transition. Your packaging numbers in certain jurisdictions don’t have authorised representation, so they’re unaffected.

The only thing you might need to consider is if you have an authorised representative and are changing service provider.

Do we need to report (e.g. quarterly) sales on specific products for particular countries, like toys from France, like we did previously?

For Amazon, yes. When you’re connected to the AVASK software, our compliance team can pull your Amazon Seller Central data directly, saving you the hassle of doing this yourself weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually.

For off-Amazon, these mean separate reports – which you’ll still need to do because they affect your entire compliance with the EPR.
